This the great Kamakura Buddha in the KÅtoku-in Buddhist temple in Kamakura, Japan. The Kamakura Daibutsu (Great Buddha), is a large bronze statue fabricated in multiple pieces of Amida Buddha. Over time there have been several buildings that have housed the Buddah, the last being washed away in the tsunami of September 20, 1498. Since then, the Kamakura Daibutsu has been left without a shelter.
